What's new on SMA version 14.0 -
Description
KACE Systems Management Appliance (SMA) is designed to automate device management, application deployment, patching, asset management, and Service Desk ticket management.

This release of the KACE Systems Management Appliance includes major features on the User Interface and Agent infrastructure.
The minimum version for upgrade is 13.2.182. Please see the upgrade path if on an earlier version.
Minimum Hypervisors supported:- ESXi version 8.0, more information here.
- Hyper-V needs to run on Windows Server 2019 as a minimum.
- Nutanix AOS 5.20.1.1 (LTS) or later

Release highlights
- Enhanced User Interface: Elevating customer success through UI optimization is paramount. In version 14.0, we initiated a project to streamline interactions, minimizing clicks and scrolling. The KACE Systems Management Appliance UI is now responsive and dynamic, enhancing usability across all devices. This is an example of the landing page, look forward to the Inventory, Service Desk, Patching modules, among others.
- 64-bit Agent for Windows and All Linux Flavors: Agents for both Windows and Linux are now exclusively 64-bit. This simplification significantly eases and streamlines the authoring and delivering workloads across all operating systems.
- Note that scripts involving 32-bit redirects will need to be adjusted if not setup with the 64-bit registry.
- Now that the agent is on the Program Files folder, note the new directory for allow-list.
- MDM Enrollment Status in Inventory: macOS and Windows agents will now communicate the device enrollment status to modern management providers, such as KACE Cloud or Microsoft Intune.
- Monitoring Support added for Non-Server OS: The Monitoring feature now extends support to Windows clients such as Win 10, 11, and so on. Additionally, the Monitoring feature is now provided at no cost up to the maximum node count of 200. Please note that activating the 200-seat entitlement at no charge requires an updated license key. - Content Security Policy added to Security Settings. More info here.
- FreeBSD updated to 14.0-RELEASE-p5.
- Logout information added to Syslog, distinguishing if it was a manual logout, or a session timeout.
Resolved issues
- Service Desk:
- Age column on the Ticket list page displays 0 for custom views
- Email notifications are sent when a different Category with no CC is set
- 'Please complete category selection' error shown when Category field is not visible when using ticket template
- Server issues:
- It's now possible to upload 4GB+ backups
- Unable to create or edit multi-line batch files in scripting
- Suppressed internal emails that could cause the SMA to fill up.
- Users with labels assigned unable to login to KACE Go App.
- Unable to login to KACE GO app from ORG ID 20 or higher
- Inventory takes a long time to complete after 13.2 upgrade when Shell Scripts are scheduled.
- SAML - Unable to login when cert fails before monthly refresh
- Lenovo Warranty automatic update not working.
- Patching/Dell Updates:
- Dell Updates catalog Error and Install count are incorrect for some updates
- Dell Updates schedules list non-Dell devices under Schedule status
- Dell Updates smart label creation takes a long time to complete
- Reporting:
- Windows 11 readiness report includes machines already updated to Windows 11
- Fixed errors when running reports that were created before upgrading to 13.2
- Wizard created reports show MySQL error Column in field list is ambiguous when sorting by USER fields
- Error when creating Asset:License reports using the wizard
- Agent:
- Offline scripts do not execute properly per day of week schedule specified
- Old KACE agent installers are not cleaned up during upgrade
- Security:
- Open SSH Vulnerability CVE-2023-48795
- Exim CVE-2023-42117 and CVE-2023-42119
- cURL and libcURL CVE-2023-38545 & CVE-2023-38546
- Self-signed certificate is not being renewed when deploying over an existing one
The following features have been deprecated:- HP Warranty. HP had discontinued support for the API since 2019. Source

- 32-bit agent installer for Windows, as well as Windows 7 and Server 2008 are no longer supported.
