Need to configure or review the SQL permissions for the KACE Desktop Authority (DA) Services so that it has correct access to the program databases.
Note: Before making any changes to SQL it is best to make a backup of the database(s). If possible please contact your SQL Database Administrator.
1. Identify the Active Directory user account that is being used for the DA Services.
These services are located in Windows Services. Right-click on the service and select Properties then select the "Log On" tab.
8.x and below - “Desktop Authority OpsMaster Service”
9.x and above - "Desktop Authority Operations Service" and "Desktop Authority Manager Service"
2. Launch Microsoft's SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
Note: A download of SSMS may be required as it is not included in most SQL installations.
3. Connect to the SQL Servername\Instancename where the Desktop Authority databases are located.
4. Expand Security | Logins.
4a. If the account used for the Services are not already listed here then right click on "Logins" and select New Login...
4b. If the account used for the Services is listed here then skip the next step.
5. Add the account being used for the Desktop Authority Services in the field labeled "Login name:".
6. Highlight "User Mapping" from the list on the left.
6a. Check the box next to DAConfiguration from the field on the right.
6b. With DAConfigration highlighted, in the field in the bottom right, check the box next to "db_owner".
6c. Check the box next to DAReporting from the field on the right.
6d. With DAReporting highlighted, in the field in the bottom right, check the box next to "db_owner".
Click OK to accept changes.
