HOW TO:
Move databases from one SQL server to another
Follow the steps below to move the Desktop Authority Databases to a new SQL Server.
Backup the "DAConfiguration" database on the current SQL server
Open the Desktop Authority Manager
Select Global Options from the Navigation Pane
Select Server Manager
On the View Pane, select the Database Configuration Tab
Click on the ellipsis radio button (…)
On the SQL/MSDE Server Explorer window, select the server from the drop-down menu list
Click OK
Click on Connect
Select the DAConfiguration database from the Database drop-down menu list
On the Database Operations drop-down menu list, select Perform a Backup or Restoration
Click to select the Perform a backup radio button
On the Backup File line, click to select the ellipsis radio button (…)
Browse to the folder where the database will be saved
Name the file DAConfiguration (The file will automatically be given a .BAK file extension)
Click on Open
Note the path and file name
Backup the DAReporting database on the current SQL server
Open The Desktop Authority Manager
Select Global Options from the Navigation Pane
Select Server Manager
On the View Pane, select the Database Configuration Tab
Click on the ellipsis radio button (…)
On the SQL/MSDE Server Explorer window, select the server from the drop-down menu list
Click OK
Click on Connect
Select the DAReporting database from the Database drop-down menu list
On the Database Operations drop-down menu list, select Perform a Backup or Restoration
Click to select the Perform a backup radio button
On the Backup File line, click to select the ellipsis radio button (…)
Browse to the folder where the database will be saved
Name the file DAReporting (The file will automatically be given a .BAK file extension)
Click on Open
Note the path and file name
Click on Backup Database
Replace the old SQL server name with the new SQL server name
Open the Desktop Authority Manager
Select File | Edit Global System Settings
On the Global System Settings window
Under Reporting SQL Settings
Replace the old SQL Server name with the new SQL Server name
Under Configuration SQL Settings
Replace the old SQL Server name with the new SQL Server name
Click OK
Select File
Select Save Changes
Restore databases for Desktop Authority 7.x & 8.x versions:
Restore the DAConfiguration database to the new SQL server
Open the Desktop Authority Manager
Select Global Options from the Navigation Pane
Select Server Manager
On the View Pane, select the Database Configuration Tab
Click on the ellipsis radio button (…)
On the SQL/MSDE Server Explorer window, select the server from the drop-down menu list
Click OK
Click on Connect
Select the DAConfiguration database from the Database drop-down menu list
On the Database Operations drop-down menu list, select Perform a Backup or Restoration
Click to select the Perform a restore radio button
On the Restore File line, click to select the ellipsis radio button (…)
Browse to the folder where the database was saved
Select the file DAConfiguration.BAK
Click on Open
Click on Restore Database
Restore the DAReporting database to the new SQL server
Open the Desktop Authority Manager
Select Global Options from the Navigation Pane
Select Server Manager
On the View Pane, select the Database Configuration Tab
Click on the ellipsis radio button (…)
On the SQL/MSDE Server Explorer window, select the server from the drop-down menu list
Click OK
Click on Connect
Select the DAReporting database from the Database drop-down menu list
On the Database Operations drop-down menu list, select Perform a Backup or Restoration
Click to select the Perform a restore radio button
On the Restore File line, click to select the ellipsis radio button (…)
Browse to the folder where the database was saved
Select the file DAReporting.BAK
Click on Open
Click on Restore Database
