Desktop Authority 9.1 is a minor release which introduces a number of new features, enhancements and bug fixes
New platform support: Desktop Authority 9.1 now supports Windows 8, Server 2012, SQL Server 2012 and Internet Explorer 10. Please Note: Desktop Authority 9.1 now requires Windows XP Service Pack 3 or higher to install on client machines.
New Local Account Management object: Add and remove users as local users and to local groups. Also add users as local admins, ensure only designated users are members of the local admins group, and clean up unused profiles.
Enhanced Registry Management object: The updated registry object makes it easier to set multiple registry values, assign Validation Logic to groups of registry values and import .reg files and assign Validation Logic to the contents.
Updated Shortcuts Management object: The Shortcuts management object now supports “Pin to Start Menu” and “Pin to Taskbar” when creating shortcuts.
Improved Management console performance and ease-of-use: Easily see what management objects have elements defined and how many are defined for each. Also, quickly determine how many elements are enabled and disabled. Console performance has been improved throughout.
Support for environments with FIPS control in place: Desktop Authority 9.1 now functions properly in environments that have the FIPS controls active on servers and desktops.
Performance, scalability and stability improvements: Server Manager has improved performance and scalability. Patch Management and USB / Port Security have had significant improvements in stability and performance.
Updated version of ExpertAssist 8.5.6.10:
The activities performed during a remote management session (a registry key creation, stopping/running services, remote control session data etc.) are now logged separately in special secure SLOG files (accessed through the newly added User Management Log page of the Security section).
Centralized logging over the network (if enabled). All logged data is encrypted and can be stored also on central SQL Server repository.
The User Management Log page is added to the Security section to provide user-friendly access to contents of local and remote logs via ExpertAssist web browser window depending on user’s rights.
To ensure logs data is change-protected, the files are signed with digital signature. If the files content is altered, anyhow corrupted or intentionally deleted, the files will be marked as “invalid” or a special warning will be shown.
Added possibility to manage User Account Control on post-vista systems.
New platforms support was added including Windows 8 & Windows Server 2012.
Added Cross-browser support for Chrome/Firefox and Internet Explorer 10.
Migration to new OpenSSL1.0.1.c, adds support for FIPS on x64, TLS1.1/1.2 secure protocols, SHA-2 hashing algorithms and other security and functional features.
Load time improvements by adding more caching and compression for pages resources.
The ExpertAssist setup now offers to add exceptions for ExpertAssist to Windows firewall security settings.
To increase ExpertAssist usability characteristics, a scrollbar is added to the command line interface of the Command Prompt section.
