Error code -2147023878 Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion when creating a shortcut element (4292581)

When a shortcut element is created with an URL as target information, the shortcut file is damaged and the sltrace.htm file shows the error:

WORKAROUND:

As a workaround the target information may be changed to a specific browser location or one of the Desktop Authority dynamic variables: $Browserfilespec or $IEfilespec and the URL can be set as Target argument. When the element is evaluated, $Browserfilespec will be replaced with the path and executable file for the default browser and $IEfilespec will be evaluated and replaced with the Internet Explorer file location.

To remove the faulty shortcut an element must be created to remove the .url shortcut in public desktop location:

This elements must be saved and the changes must be replicated to take effect.
