The anti-virus exclusions in this article are for KACE Desktop Authority (KDA) version 10.1 and above. Please see attached documents for older versions of KACE Desktop Authority.
NOTE: Starting In KACE Desktop Authority version 10.1, the file paths have been changed from *\Dell to *\Quest due to rebranding. This change necessitates either creating new exception entries or modifying previously existing exceptions that have been functioning as desired with earlier versions of KACE Desktop Authority. This article is intended to address anti-virus exceptions as they relate to KACE Desktop Authority version 10.1 only. -
Cause
Anti-Virus programs scan files in order to prevent malicious and unwanted programs from harming machines on the network. However, it is often necessary to create scanning exceptions for legitimate programs so that they are not delayed or prevented from running. Scanning exceptions may be made at the folder or file level depending upon personal preferences or internal company policy mandates. The various folder locations for KACE Desktop Authority files are listed below so that the appropriate exceptions can be made for them.
It is important to note that some anti-virus programs require separate exception entries for 32 bit and 64 bit paths. In addition, some also don’t support paths using long file names but instead require adherence to the 8.3 convention. It is recommended to consult your anti-virus vendor for more specific information regarding creating exception entries.
KACE Desktop Authority is unique in that its files may be run from a local path or a network path. Therefore, it is prudent to make exceptions for both the local and the network locations. Likewise, when troubleshooting to determine if anti-virus is responsible for a particular issue, it is equally prudent to temporarily disable anti-virus in both locations for testing purposes. -

These anti-virus exclusions should be applied for new installations as well as upgrades of KDA version 10.1 and above.Clients:

We have compiled a more comprehensive list of files below for those who wish to exclude by specific file names. Please see the "Version 10.1 Exclusion Files" document attached below. These files should be excluded on both the client and KACE Desktop Authority Server.
