Operating system patches will no longer be provided for macOS 11 (Big Sur) and forward.
Apple has made significant changes to the process for installing and updating a macOS. Due to circumstances beyond our control, updating the macOS 11 (Big Sur) operating system is not an option from the KACE Systems Management Appliance (SMA).
The SMA will continue to support application deployment and updates on macOS 11 (Big Sur).
Apple has deprecated support for OS patching via a third-party catalog with macOS 11 (Big Sur). It is clear that Apple is continuing to move away from traditional management methods to profiled based, modern management in which laptops are managed the same as iPads and iPhone. Source
Updating macOS 11 Big Sur (and future) Operating Systems
Going forward it will be necessary to use modern management methods to update Mac OSs. KACE Cloud gives you the flexibility to use modern or traditional management methods to manage all your endpoints. By seamlessly adding modern management methods to your existing, traditional KACE SMA lifecycle asset management, organizations can more easily enroll and inventory mobile devices and Mac and Windows computers that do not require traditional management. Traditional management methods can continue to be used for non-computers and computers that are best managed traditionally. Each organization is in a different state of transition from traditional to modern management, and KACE is committed to providing flexible management solutions that meet you wherever they are at within that transition.
