Which Toad For Oracle installer do I need to download?
For Toad version 12.7 and newer, the download new release page will only list out the option for Suite installers as "full" or "web":
The download and installation is based off of the license key. In this case the only thing you need to consider is the bit version. Toad's bit version must match the Oracle client bit version.4 The products and features installed and enabled will be based off the license key you register during the installation.² ³
The Web Installer is intended to be used by end users. This installer will configure itself based on the supplied license key and only download those components selected by the end user.
The Full Installer is intended to be used by administrators in cases where background download-on-demand of individual Suite components is impractical or not preferred.
After downloading and running the installer, it will list out the applications available to you for installation based off the key you register.
For Toad version 12.6 and older, the download new release page may list out multiple download files:
The download is based off the license. If you have Toad for Oracle already installed, go to Help | Licensing to check what you are licensed for.
If it notes "DBA Suite"¹ or Toad DBA Suite for Oracle - RAC Edition/Exadata Edition², then download the "Toad DBA Suite for Oracle" installer.
If if notes "Development Suite"¹ then download the "Toad Development Suite for Oracle" installer.
If it notes Toad for Oracle "Base", "Professional", or "Xpert" (with or without the DB Admin Module³) then download the "Toad for Oracle Commercial" installer.
If it notes "Toad for Oracle Suite" then download the Toad for Oracle Suite Installer.
There is also a Toad for Oracle ".MSI (special installation)" option.
This is the msi version of the installation, as opposed to the other exe versions. This can be used for silent install or if there are issues or limitations in the environment with using exe installers.
The msi version of the installer will only give the Toad for Oracle Commercial install. It is not a bundle and will not include any of the other product installers included with a Suite key. If other msi versions of the product installers are needed for the other products, like Spotlight, BenchmarkFactory, etc please search and download these individually off the Support Portal's Download Software page.
¹ A Suites license and installation means multiple products are a bundled together. You can check the Toad for Oracle Suite/Editions Release Notes for further details of what other applications are licensed and bundled with Toad for Oracle in the Suite.
² "RAC" and "Exadata" editions specifically applies to the installation of Spotlight. Toad for Oracle supports RAC and Exadata connections, but does not have any specific features for those editions. Spotlight does have specific features for those editions and the features will be enabled based off the license key after installation.
³ DB Admin module is a plugin that include more DBA oriented features. These features will be enabled based of the license key after installation. This is not the same as, and not limited, to as the DBA Suite installer.
