What's the difference between Toad for Oracle 64 bit and 32 bit? What client do I use? Can I install the 32 bit version on a 64 bit machine?
What are the advantages of upgrading to 64 bit?
With Toad for Oracle 2025 R1, a 64 bit version is available along with the usual 32 bit version.
Toad for Oracle 32 bit can be installed in either a 32 bit or a 64 bit Windows operating system. But it requires a 32 bit Oracle client.
Toad for Oracle 64 bit can only be installed in a 64 bit Windows operating system. It requires a 64 bit Oracle client.
If working with very large data sets (high memory demands), upgrading to a 64 bit version might be helpful. But in general the 32 bit version should be enough. If there were no performance issues when working with a previous 32 bit version of Toad, there should no be a need to upgrade to a 64 bit version of Toad.
Note that the 64-bit version of Toad will only recognize a 64-bit Oracle Client, even if there is also a 32-bit Oracle client installed, and vice versa for the 32-bit version of Toad.
