Services - Service Not Running Alarms

A Services - Service Not Running Alarm alarm becomes active when any of SQL Server's supporting services are installed, but not active.

Alarm	Monitored Service
SQL Agent - Status Alarm	SQL Server Agent (SQLServerAgent) service
Services - DT Service Status Alarm	Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) service
Services - Service Not Running Alarm	Microsoft OLAP/Analysis (MSSQLServerOLAPService) service
Services - Full Text Search Service Alarm	Full-Text Search (Microsoft Search) service

When the alarm is current you should:

Check the Service Status page on the Support Services drilldown to see the status of all known SQL Server support services.
Review messages in the Error Log drilldown to determine the reason why the service is not running.
Restart the affected service if necessary. This can be done from the Service Status page by right-clicking the service in the Services Status grid.

Tips:

You can configure this alarm to ignore certain values. See "Configure an Alarm to Ignore Certain Values" (page 1) for more information.

You can configure different alarm severities for specific services. See "Configure Keyed Alarms" (page 1) for more information.
