Configure the Alarm: SQL Agent - Long Running Jobs

The SQL Agent - Long Running Jobs alarm alerts you to SQL Agent jobs that have been running for considerably longer than their average run duration. By default, the threshold for this alarm is 200% of average run duration but you can change the threshold to a value suitable for your environment.

You can also configure different thresholds for specific jobs.

To configure the alarm: SQL Agent - Long Running Jobs

  1. Click Configure | Alarms.

  2. Select a connection to configure. Select Default Settings to apply the configuration to all connections.
  3. Select the alarm SQL Agent- Long Running Jobs.
  4. Select Override the default settings for the alarm "SQL Agent - Long Running Jobs".
  5. To change the threshold for all SQL Agent jobs:
    1. Change the values in the Start and End columns of the Severity table. To add a severity click Add Severity.
  6. To change the different threshold for a specific job:

    1. Click Add.
    2. Select a SQL Agent job from the Key Value list.
    3. Change the values in the Start and End columns of the Severity table. To add a severity click Add Severity.
