Events gathering session may finish with an "Error" status. The following error message may be displayed in the session details for some computers and registered in the Application event log on the InTrust for Events machine:
"The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."
No events are collected from any event logs on computers for which this error is received. This error is logged when collecting events from Windows NT 3.51 or 4.0 (pre-SP6) with a version of InTrust for Events earlier than 7.1 Service Pack 3 and using agents.
WORKAROUND:
As a workaround, switch to collecting events from Windows NT 3.51 and 4.0 pre-SP6 computers remotely (without agents).
STATUS:
This issue is fixed in InTrust for Events 7.1 Service Pack 3. This version can be downloaded at:
