Description

Error starting Quest Knowledge Portal: "Required permissions cannot be acquired"
Cause

Web.config from the parent IIS application (usually Sharepoint) overrides security settings for the Quest Knowledge Portal
Resolution

Open web.config file in the Quest Portal installation directory for editing and add the following lines:

<trust
level="Full"
originUrl=""
processRequestInApplicationTrust="true"
/>

This content must be added inside the <system.web> tag
