Description
The follow error can occur, either through a gathering task or when a gathering is run manually, after a debugging tool has been removed:
The system cannot find the file specified. Failed to create process "C:\Program Files\Quest Software\InTrust\Server\InTrust\GatheringEngine.exe". (The system cannot find the file specified. (Win32 error: 2)) -
Cause
The error can occur after a debugging tool has been removed but the process 'GatheringEngine.exe' is still linked to the debugging tool.

Resolution
To ensure that this is the issue, at a command prompt navigate to 'C:\Program Files\Quest Software\InTrust\Server\InTrust'. Try running the gatheringengine.exe executable. If this produces the same error, verify the following.
Verify that the gatheringengine.exe is not listed in the following registry key.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options
If the gatheringengine.exe is listed, please backup this key before removing it.
Please take note that modifying the registry can have adverse effects if not done with caution.
