There are two methods:
- Use the FglAM configuration interface
- Use the jmx-console
FglAM Configuration Interface:
Run the Foglight Agent Manager configuration interface from the embedded Foglight Agent Manager installation directory:
<foglight_home>/fglam/bin.
This section discusses running the configuration interface for the embedded Foglight Agent Manager and issues related to configuring the embedded Foglight Agent Manager.
To configure the embedded Foglight Agent Manager:
- Launch a command shell on the machine hosting the embedded Foglight Agent Manager machine and navigate to the "<foglight_home>/fglam/bin directory".
Note: The installation directory of the embedded Foglight Agent Manager (<foglight_home>/fglam) does not include a JRE directory. When you issue commands to the embedded Foglight Agent Manager or launch the configuration interface for the embedded Foglight Agent Manager, you must include the -m or --javavm option with the command and specify the path to the JVM, as shown in the examples below. If you do not do so, it results in an error.
- Stop the embedded Foglight Agent Manager by issuing the following command:
fglam.exe -q <-m|--javavm path_to_JVM>
In the command above, replace path_to_JVM with the path to the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) that you want to use.
- Run the embedded Foglight Agent Manager from the command line with the appropriate set of options, depending on how you want to run the configuration interface:
To launch the Foglight Agent Manager configuration GUI:
./fglam --configure <-m|--javavm path_to_JVM>
To launch the Foglight Agent Manager configuration command-line interface:
./fglam --configure <-m|--javavm path_to_JVM>
If the DISPLAY environment variable is set on the machine, run the Foglight Agent Manager with the --headless option as well:
./fglam --headless --configure <-m|--javavm path_to_JVM>
In the commands shown above, replace path_to_JVM with the path to the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) that you want to use.
- Follow the appropriate set of instructions provided in "To launch the Foglight Agent Manager configuration GUI" or "To launch the Foglight Agent Manager configuration command-line interface" for proceeding through the configuration interface steps.
Aside from setting the host name and port for the Management Server with which it communicates (described in Automatic configuration of the Foglight Management Server host name and port below), you can configure the embedded Foglight Agent Manager as you would a standalone Foglight Agent Manager.
- Restart the embedded Foglight Agent Manager by issuing the following command:
fglam.exe -s <-m|--javavm path_to_JVM>
In the command above, replace path_to_JVM with the path to the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) that you want to use.
JMX-CONSOLE:
NOTE: Accessing the jmx-console requires 'foglight' user access so one must have the password for the 'foglight' user to accomplish this task
- http://<YOURSERVER>:8080/jmx-console
- Search for "service=EmbeddedFglAm" and click the link
- Click the "Invoke" button for the function void stop()
- Click the "Invoke" button for the function void start()
