- Click on Retention Policies.
- Manually check one or more agents or click Select All.
- Click Set retention policy to set a new predefined policy , then click Set to set the preference.
- Also under the Retention policy status column, click on the the policy name (default is medium), to set a different retention value than other agents.
- Click Save Changes to save before closing.
Note: default Historical data is kept based on the following, unless a specific topology type has been customized under Administration | Data | Manage Retention Policies :
Short (up to 1 month)
Medium (up to 3 months)
Long (up to 1 year)
Note: Short may store MORE data over a shorter period of time until it has rolled up, aged out and purged during regular FMS maintenance tasks. Plan for a spike in FMS repository growth if short is selected and allocate extra storage if needed. Typically agents could store 3GB max each, but may not reach that size with on going maintenance.
Example: 200 active DB and Infrastructure agents could potentially store 600GB of observations in a 3 month cycle.
