In vFoglight Storage my EMC SMIS collections have an error message, “Connection refused by server”. It was working and then the collections failed with this error message. Both topology and performance collections are failing. When I check the ports on the EMC SMIS server (open a DOS prompt and run ‘netstat –an’ ) they are not open.
This can be caused by the ECOM service crashing. This is the SMIS service that opens the SMIS ports on the server.
Restart the ECOM service on the EMC SMIS server. If this does not work, restart all the EMC services or reboot the SMIS server.
If other applications are running on this server please consults the service owner.
