I am not seeing any new snapshots in vFoglight. I create them in vCenter, but they are not being reflected in vFoglight.
In the Support bundle I am seeing an error message.
“com.quest.nitro.service.topology.TopologyService - Failed to create a topology object with name VMWSnapshot: {managedObjectReference=snapshot-169936, virtualMachine=a10a2e19-5044-4d2a-9f01-9d63e55a3940}: com.quest.nitro.service.sl.interfaces.topology.TopologyChangeVetoException: The configured limit of 10000 instances of type VMWSnapshot has been reached.”
By default vFoglight will handle up to 10,000 topology changes for any object. In some cases the object topology churn is greater than this number and either the old information needs to be removed or an increase in the number of topology objects needs to be implemented.
Resolution 1
You can modify the registry to allow for more changes in your environment. This is generally a temporary fix since the new value will eventually be reached, but it might allow you to maintain the number of days of information you need.
1) Log into the vFoglight Console
2) Go to: Administration | Rules and notifications | Manage Registry Values and select Foglight.limit.instances
At the Bottom of the page you will select Add Registry Value
3) add the new value
Under Topology Type: Select the Value you want to modify (VMWSnapShot).
Under Topology Object select the specific object or all the objects under this Topology Type.
The Default value is 10000. You can change this to 20000 but be aware that this might also fill up. Setting a value higher that this may impact the performance of vFoglight.
