Can the AIX errlog be monitored with the Infrastructure cartridge FileLogMonitor agent?
Description
Can the AIX errlog be monitored with the Infrastructure FileLogMonitor agent?
The legacy AIX_console agent was able to collect errlog data using errpt.
Resolution
The "errlog" file is a binary file. The "errpt" command is used to retrieve data from the errlog file.
If a log file can be generated using the output of the "errpt" command that is updated by appending to the log file, and not overwriting the log file, the FileLogMonitor agent should be able to monitor the resulting file.
Additional Information
The following page discusses the "errlog" file and the "errpt" command used to retrieve data from the errlog file.
