Auto-clearing DBSS - Jobs Failed alarms -
Description
In the 5.9.7.10 and higher releases of the SQL Server cartridge, functionality has been included for there to be only one active alarm per failed job.In earlier releases of the SQL Server cartridge at 5.9.5.20 and below, DBSS – Jobs Failed alarms are not automatically cleared, resulting in many uncleared alarms that are not relevant to end users.A registry setting DBSS-JobsFailed_autoClear has been added to manage this auto-clear alarm design. -
Resolution
When the Auto-Clear registry setting is set to true- As a job fails, a new alarm is raised and appears. If a previous alarm exists it is cleared with a note “System: Alarm was cleared since the jobs failed again. A new alarm will be raised”
- If the job ran successfully, any existing alarm for the same job is cleared so alarm will not appear again in the list of failed jobs. The previous alarm is cleared with a note: "System: Alarm was cleared since the job ran successfully".
When the Auto-Clear registry setting is set to false (default).- As a job fails, a new alarm is raised and appears. If a previous alarm exists for the same job it is cleared with a note "System: Alarm was cleared since the jobs failed again. A new alarm will be raised".
- If the job runs successfully, any existing alarm for the same job is NOT cleared so that alarm will keep appearing in the list of failed jobs.
