Can a Windows System State Backup be used to perform restore operations
Descripción
Can RMAD use native Windows System State backups to restore objects?
Resolución
Provided the backups were created using as a Microsoft Tape Format (MTF)-compliant backup file (.bkf) or Windows Server backup file (.vhd, .vhdx):
Start the Online Restore Wizard
Click Next
If the backup is a file (such as a .bkf , vhd or vhdx file) click Register | Register Backup File
If the backup was created using Windows 2008 or later, and you are using a version of RMAD prior to 8.7, you need to first register the .vhd file as a disk in Windows and then register the DIT database as an offlline Active Directory database in RMAD : - Start Windows Disk Management snap-in - Click Action | Attach VHD - Select the VHD file from the backup folders and click Open - Click OK - In the RMAD Online Restore Wizard, click Register | Register Offline Active Directory Database - Browse to the following path on the new disk created from attaching the VHD file and select the ntds.dit file: Windows\NTDS - Click OK
Click Next
Select the new registered backup which is indicated by the date in the Created column and it will have a blank Media column
Step through the rest of the wizard to perform the restore
