7-zip executable found (4381458)

A security scanning tool detected the presence of the following executable inside the Recovery Manager for Active Directory Forest Edition (RMAD/FE) installation directory:

The scanner flagged it as an unauthorized 7-Zip application and requested validation on whether the file can be removed, upgraded, or justified.

• 7za.exe is not an unauthorized installation.
• It is a built-in third-party component bundled with RMAD/FE and listed under the product’s Third-Party Contributions.
• According to the official Recovery Manager for Active Directory Forest Edition 10.3.2 – Security Guide, RMAD includes:

• This module is used internally by RMAD for secure compression and extraction of backup data and project files.
• Removing or modifying this file will break RMAD's backup and recovery operations.

The file must not be removed or manually upgraded.

1. 7za.exe is required for internal RMAD operations such as:

   • Backup file creation

   • Compressed archive handling

   • Forest Recovery project file operations

2. The component is:

   • Installed by the RMAD setup package

   • Included in Quest’s SDLC and vulnerability scanning processes

   • Used only by RMAD services (not exposed to end users)

3. Upgrading the file separately is unsupported.
   RMAD can only use the embedded version packaged with the product.

4. If a newer version of 7-Zip is needed, it will be delivered through a future RMAD product upgrade.
