Issue
The following may be logged when trying to perform various functions with Office 365 migrations and Archive Shuttle:
“WinRM cannot complete the operation. Verify that the specified computer name is valid, that the computer is accessible over the network, and that a firewall exception for the WinRM service is enabled and allows access from this computer. By default, the WinRM firewall exception for public profiles limits access to remote computers within the same local subnet. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic.”
Solution
This may indicate a connectivity problem with Office 365. Try the following in PowerShell:
$creds = get-credential -username "global admin user@domain.onmicrosoft.com" -message "Credentials"
$session = new-pssession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionURI
https://outlook.office365.com/powershell-liveid/ -Credential $creds -authentication Basic -AllowRedirection
PowerShell may respond with:WARNING: Your connection has been redirected to the following URI: "https://ps.outlook.com/PowerShell-LiveID?PSVersion=4.0 "
Continue with:import-pssession $session
get-mailbox
If a connection can not be made with ps.outlook.com, the second line above is likely to fail. Troubleshooting of this type of connectivity issue needs to be done in tandem with the customers Network Administrators as configuration details and connectivity information will need to be determined (for example if a proxy server is used, how should connections be made using it).
It is recommended to enable Windows remote management. If not, please refer to this article and enable it.
Secondly, it might be that you need to configure the company firewall to let it allow Exchange Online port/IP. Here are the ExchangeOnline URLs and IP address ranges, please make sure that your company firewall doesn’t block them.
