Error message displays:
"Cannot create file "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Binn\xpLogShipping.dll". The process cannot
access the file because it is being used by another process"
The message may be displayed for the following .dll files:
XpSLS.dll
xpLogShipping.dll
xpSLSImportStats.dll
The .dll file has been loaded to cache. The file is indeed used by a process.
1. Verify that there is no LiteSpeed job running.
2. Rename the xpLogShipping.dll in the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Binn\xpLogShipping.dll" directory to "xpSLS.dll1". The next time this server is restarted, the renamed file may be deleted from the folder and the newer version of the .dll will write to the cache.
3. Restart the Instance Configuration, and the process will write the newer .dll files to the %\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Bin directory.
NOTE: The DBCC xp******_dll(FREE) and DBCC DROPCLEANBUFFERS are not typically successful for removing the .dll from cache. Stopping and restarting the SQL Server will replace the file in cache.
