Please explain the use cases for "Acknowledge" and "Acknowledge Until Normal" in alarms.
What is the difference between those two options?
"Acknowledge/Acknowledge Until Normal" are designed to help a team where multiple administrators working or monitoring same set of hosts.
When team members getting an email or observing an alarm and want to start looking at the issue, using "Acknowledge/Acknowledge Until Normal" is a way to update others on the team that he/she is observing the issue and acting on it.
"Acknowledge/Acknowledge Until Normal" are designed to works differently from dashboard perspective,
Let’s assume a multi severity rule (Rule : DBSS – Disk Percentage Used) fires a WARNING and after some time the situation got worse and the alarm severity increased to CRITICAL.
If you just "Acknowledged" the alarm, when it is a WARNING and the alarm severity increased to CRITICAL, the alarm will not stay acknowledged. In case of "Acknowledge Until Normal", the alarm will stay acknowledged through its course of upgrades and downgraded until it is cleared or normal.
