• What is the difference between the licensing of Content Matrix Migration Express and Content Matrix?
  Content Matrix Migration Express (Per Migrated GB) license is enforced by the size of data migrated to the target SharePoint farm.
  Content Matrix (Content Under Management) license is enforced by the size of the target SharePoint farm.

• What are the different license types of Content Matrix?

A trial license has an expiration and maintenance expiration date that is one month from the date of license creation.
A term license has an expiration and maintenance expiration date that is set to one year from the date of license creation.
A perpetual license has an infinite expiration date and a maintenance expiration date that is set to one year from the date of license creation.

NOTE: Content Matrix cannot be used after the expiration date. In addition to that, it will show an error message similar to the one below when the expiration date is reached:

  License Key represents the Content Matrix or Content Matrix Migration Express license key.
  License Expiration Date represents the product's expiration date.
  Support & Maintenance Expiration Date represents the support maintenance expiration date.
  License Usage represents either the target farm size (Content Matrix) or the current migrated data size (Content Matrix Migration Express) over the purchased license capacity.
  Days Until Registration represents the remaining number of days before the license needs to be reactivated.

• How is the farm and/or migrated data size calculated?
  
  Content Matrix Migration Express (Per Migrated GB)
  
  The migrated data size is tracked by the console and will stop working as soon as the purchased migration capacity has been reached and/or exceeded.
  
  Content Matrix (Content Under Management)
  
  Organizer or License Check is responsible for calculating the farm size so either of them needs to be installed on the target on-premise SharePoint 2010 and 2013 farm. Once any of the said components is installed, it will create a SharePoint timer job named Content Matrix License Verification. By default, it runs daily between 2 to 3:45AM to calculate the farm size and then reports it back to the Quest licensing system. However, if the server does not have internet access and the license was activated offline, the job will run daily to calculate the farm size, notify the user to reactivate the license after 30 days, and then the updated farm size will be sent to the Quest licensing system. If neither of the components is installed, existing and new connections will appear as read-only.
  
  For SharePoint Online, its size is calculated whenever a user connects at the tenant and site level through the console, and then the updated size is sent to the Quest licensing system. Included in the calculation are SharePoint Sites, Office 365 Groups, and Office 365 Teams. NOTE: One Drive For Business sites are not included in the calculation.
