- In the RMAD installation folder, right-click on autorun.inf and select “Run as Administrator. The Recovery Manager for Active Directory setup menu will display.
- Click on the “Install” button beside “Recovery Manager for Active Directory”.
- Click “Next”.
- Check “I accept these terms” and click “Next”.
- Enter your User Information and click “Next”.
- Select “Custom” and click “Next”.
- Verify the components you wish to install and click “Next”.
- Verify the location you wish to store your backups. Click “Change” if you would like to change the storage path.
- Click “Next”.
- If you would like to automatically configure the firewall, click “Next”.
- If you wish to install SQL Server Express locally, leave the radio button as is. If you are going to point to a different instance of SQL Server, select “Do not install SQL Server Express Edition” and click “Next”.
- If SQL Server was selected to install, the installation of it will proceed. If you did not install SQL Server, enter the SQL Server instance, and, if applicable, the SQL Server Authentication login.
- The installation will verify if SQL Server can be connected and will display an error if the connection was not successful. If this occurs, adjust your SQL Server settings. Click “Next”.
- Select whether you want to use the Quest Reports Viewer or SQL Reporting Services. SSRS is not installed by the default RMAD installation, so use the Quest Reports Viewer in this case. If you have a pre-existing SSRS instance, you can connect to that via the Reporting Server address. Click “Next”.
- Click “Install”.
- The wizard should install all components successfully. Click “Finish”
If you receive errors, a premature setup ending, or a rollback of the install, please take screenshots of the errors, then close the installation.
Open an elevated command prompt. Navigate to the Setup folder within the installation folder from command prompt. Enter the following script without the quotes: “msiexec /i RMAD_x64.msi /l*v C:\temp\rmadinstall.log” and hit enter.
NOTE: if installing RMADFE, change the msi name to RMADFE_x64.msi
Follow steps 1-16 again. If the error still occurs, navigate to C:\temp\rmadinstall.log, grab the rmadinstall.log file, open a Quest support ticket, and attach the screenshots and log file to the support ticket.
