While connecting to Mongo DB one may see the error
Invalid data source definition: Authentication failed

Causa
The user that is being used to connect, did not create the database it's trying to connect to. The user must have created the database or at least exist in the Database you're trying to connect to. -
Resolución
Make sure the user exists in the Database.
To verify, while connected to that exact MongoDB in the command line as admin, if you execute "show users" the user must be listed there.
