ReturnMotif is composed of many different widgets such as buttons, sliders, and menus. Conceptually, XRT/field adds a new set of widgets for use in Motif version 1.2 or later. Writing programs using XRT/field is very similar to writing any other kind of Motif program; you now have more Motif widgets to work with. XRT/field widgets store text and allow you to convert, complete and validate the text once it is stored. They provide an easy way to enter and verify data in Motif applications that require intensive data entry, such as database applications. Additional widgets allow you to create spin boxes and combo boxes that contain and manipulate XRT/field widgets. Each field widget has resources that determine how the field will look and behave.
