After upgrading to Desktop Authority (DA) version 10.0, settings that previously ran on client machines are now not being applied.
A new feature called "Off Network Support" was added to Desktop Authority version 10 which gives DA the ability to run settings solely through an internet connection when a domain connection is not present. The Desktop Authority client agent uses an Application Programming Interface (API) call to the Network Location Awareness (NLA) service in order to detect if a managed network is present or not.
STATUS:
Issue resolved in version 10.1. The latest version of Desktop Authority can be downloaded from here.
If you are unable to apply the hotfix at this time, and currently have Desktop Authority 10.0.0.440, follow the workaround below.
WORKAROUND:
View the Desktop Authority diagnostic trace file (%temp%\Desktop Authority\SLTrace.htm) on the user’s machine and compare the validation logic settings of the elements that are not running in order to correctly diagnose the issue. If there is an entry in the trace file that indicates that the domain is not available, then the machine is being detected as off network.
One possible cause for this is that the Network Location Awareness (NLA) service is not running therefor DA cannot detect the machine’s connection. The NLA service is set to automatic and started in a default environment.
