Q: Is my License current?
A: Click on the Registration link in the lower right hand corner, to verify if the information is correct.
Q: Has the way licenses are counted changed?
A: Yes, starting in v9.3 the way licenses are counted was corrected. Please see Frequently asked questions regarding Desktop Authority licenses Sol. 186762
Q: What do I do if my license is not current?
A: Please see Sol. 227837 "Missing a current copy of the KACE Desktop Authority license (Register.ini) or licensing assistance is needed".
Q: If I am on version 8.1.2, even with a current license, do I need a new license file?
A: Yes, a new license file must be obtained from the License department. Please be aware that KACE Desktop Authority version 8.1.2 is no longer supported. Please see this link: Desktop Authority life cycle. You should upgrade to the latest KACE Desktop Authority release at your earliest convenience. You can download the latest KACE Desktop Authority release using this link.
Q: What version of KACE Desktop Authority can I upgrade from?
A: 9.3 or greater. If you are in previous versions please read the solution SL4310 "Upgrade path for Desktop Authority 9.x (SL4310) Knowledge Base Article"

Q: What do I need to do if I’m on a version 8.1.2 or prior?
A: Please Contact Support to acquire the appropriate installation files, depending on the version you need to upgrade from.
The upgrade path is 5.6 > 6.5.2 > 7.8.1 >8.1.2 > 9.x >11.x.
Q: What do I need to do if I am on a version prior to 9.3?
A: Please Contact Support to acquire the appropriate installation files, depending on the version you need to upgrade from.
The upgrade path is 5.6 > 6.5.2 > 7.8.1 >8.1.2 > 9.x > 11.x. Make sure antivirus exceptions are included for that version.
Q: What do I need to do to prepare for the upgrade?

Q: Can we set another Desktop Authority server for testing purposes before going in production?
A: Yes, you can see Solution SL4652 "Member Server Scenario".
Q: What do I need to consider if I have, or plan to have, a 2012 R2 server involved in the upgrade (Only If you have 2003 servers or XP running in your environment)?
A: Please see Solution 126004 “Windows Server 2012 R2 will not communicate with or accept traffic from older operating systems“ for the registry change needed.
Q: How do I upgrade/migrate if I have a remote SQL server?

Q: How do I upgrade/migrate if I have a local instance of SQL and want to move it to a new KACE Desktop Authority server?
A: Please see Solution 105346 "Upgrade to version 9.x with server migration and a local SQL installation".
Q: Can the 9.1 or prior version profiles be imported to version 11.x?
A: No, this has not been tested. Please see upgrade path for version 11.x.
Q: Can the 9.2 or 9.3 profiles be imported to version 11.x?
A: Yes.
Q: What SQL versions are supported?
A: KACE Desktop Authority 11.0 supports Microsoft SQL Server version 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017. Version 11.x also supports SQL 2019.
Q: I have the latest Microsoft Exchange 2016 and Windows Server 2016 in my network. Are they compatible with DA version 11.x?
A: Please see Solution 215289 “Support for Exchange 2016 and Server 2016”.
Q: Is Microsoft Office 365 compatible with Desktop Authority 11.x?
