nvsetmedia allows you to perform various operations like read-only, unusable, usable, and read/write.

The -readonly operation marks the media item in read-only mode, and no write operation is permitted. However the media allows you to restore the backup job. |

The -unusable operation marks the media item as unusable, in case the media is damaged or not suitable for use. It can be viewed but no operations can be performed (read or write). |

The -usable operation marks the media item as usable.This operation does not change the previous state (readonly or readwrite) of the media. |

The -readwrite operation marks the media item as read/write and can perform both the operations. |
The media is marked as readonly, with a barcode CHK2Y005 in “Windows_Library” library attached locally to server “VM-WIN2012-R2”.
The media is marked as readwrite, and is labeled with “Media5” in the “TapeLibrary” which is locally attached to the NetVault Server.
./nvsetmedia -readwrite -medialabel "Media5"
The media is marked as usable, in slot 5 of the library ‘VTL’ that is locally attached to the NetVault Server.
