SharePoint is one of the Business Intelligence data source connections supported by Toad. You can use the connection to view and query tables (lists) in a SharePoint site.
To learn how to create a connection to SharePoint, see Create SharePoint Connections.
When you create a new SharePoint connection, Toad automatically maps the data source objects. Toad gathers metadata which is cached (in a hidden table) and retained between sessions for one week. After one week, all objects are automatically refreshed. You can manually refresh the objects at any time.
To refresh SharePoint tables
During the initial connection process, Toad maps only metadata. The actual data in each column is mapped as needed, such as when you execute a query.
Consideration / Limitation | Description |
---|---|
Objects in Object Explorer | The Object Explorer displays the SharePoint tables that were mapped by Toad, either when the connection was initially created or when the objects were refreshed. |
Max character limit | Toad maps up to 255 characters per VARCHAR data field. |
Delay when executing query | SharePoint columns and data are mapped as needed. Because of this, you may experience a delay when attempting to view columns and data or when executing a query. |
Read-only |
SharePoint connections created through the Navigation/Connection Manager are read-only. You cannot create tables through this connection. You cannot import data into SharePoint through this connection. You can import data and create tables (lists) in a SharePoint site using the Export wizard in Toad. See Export Data with the Export Wizard for more information. |
Supported version |
Toad supports SharePoint 2010 and 2013. |
