How To: Detect problems connecting to a source or target Office 365 mailbox (4354186)

How to use the  Microsoft's remote connectivity Analyzer to detect problems connecting to source or target mailbox on office 365.

Connectivity issues can occur due to:

• Incorrect credentials for the service account.
• Autodiscover or EWS URL misconfiguration.
• SSL trust issues.
• Missing Exchange impersonation permissions.

To verify service account access to the source or target mailbox on office 365.

• Go to Microsoft's RCA (Remote Connectivity Analyzer) https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com
• Select Office 365 on the left (default)
• Select "Service Account Access" and click Next.

• Enter "User@domain.com" for the target email address and enter "admin@domain.com" for the Microsoft account (Admin Account) then enter the password.

• Select AutoDiscover or Specify EWS URL (if used)
• Select Use Exchange Impersonation
• Enter the end-user mailbox address from the top field into the Impersonated user field.
• Click Ignore Trust for SSL
• Click I understand
• Enter the Verification text and click Perform Test.

This Microsoft test should give you detailed output on the cause of the connection issue to a Office 365 mailbox.
