What is the difference between having Free/Busy synchronization job in addition to just Calendar Synchronization job alone? Will Calendar synchronization job also update Free/Busy data?
Free/Busy synchronization job will update Free/Busy data for ALL objects included in the DSA (Directory Synchronization) scope. Source and target directory objects need to be matched first by DSA before their Free/Busy information is synchronized. This is because Free/Busy message contains Legacy Exchange DN of mailbox it belongs to. When creating Free/busy message agent needs to know matching information between the source and target mailboxes. This is obtained from primary X500 address stamped by DSA and equal to Legacy Exchange DN of matched object from the other side.
A Calendar synchronization job indirectly will synchronize Free/Busy messages due to the dependencies between Calendar and Free/Busy data, as soon as agent completes synchronization of appointments, the Free/Busy update is triggered as well. The following message can be tracked in calendar synchronization log:
9/10/2007 10:44:15 AM CSession::UpdateFreeBusy TraceMsg 4811 Updating free/busy information for mailbox '/o=ROOT/ou=First Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=Test1'.
