KACE Kontinuing Education (KKE) Recording: What's New - SDA 7.0 – Set Unattend Auto Logon Count (4298899)

In this What's New in 7.0 video, we will cover the new feature which allows you to Set the Unattend Auto Logon Count for each of your images.

Auto Logons are:

• Required to survive Post-Installation (PO) Tasks
  • How many tasks are attached to each deployment?
  • How many require a reboot?
• Pre-configured
  • Set via Sysprep Unattend file
  • Baked-in to captured image

Each image deployment will have a certain number of Post-Installation Tasks attached to it - to install various applications, configure various settings, join domains, and so on.  Some of those PO Tasks will require a reboot.  Therefore, each deployment needs a certain number of user account Auto Logons built-in to survive those reboots and continue with the remaining PO Tasks.

However, this number gets "baked-in" to your image when you configure and execute Sysprep - prior to capturing the image - at a time when you cannot possibly know how many reboots, and therefore how many Auto Logons, you will need.

Only after capturing the image and applying various Post-Installation Tasks can you know how many reboots - and therefore how many Auto Logons - will be required.  But, by that time, the number is already baked-in to the image.

To make matters worse, the most efficient way to image is to duplicate the single captured image multiple times - with the number already baked-in, remember - and apply different groups, and quantities, of PO Tasks to each copy of the image…Each copy potentially requiring a different number of Auto Logons…but that number was set once, and is already baked into each of those image copies…

We've long had the Set Autologon Count "tool" that could be downloaded, imported into your SDA, and used as a work-around to assist with this issue.  However, new in 7.0, we've built the solution right into the image deployment configuration screen - and made it even better!
