Statistics files on PI repository server filling up space (4230458)

Step 1

For a single DB agent

PI Statistics are enabled by default these can be turned off from the Agent Status Properties dashboard for the database agent in the SQL PI section (last flag).

1. Navigate to Administration | Agents | Agent Status
2. Select a SQL Server or Oracle agent
3. Edit the properties of the database agent
4. Click the link to modify the private properties of the agent
5. Click the False button next to the "Enable SQL PI Statistics debug messages". By default it is enabled as shown here:
   
6. Click the button to save the changes.
7. The files named xxx_statistics.log can be deleted unless requested specifically by Support.

For all DB agents on the FMS

You can stop SQL PI statistics collection using the attached Groovy scripts. Users must be logged into Supportlink to download these attachments. 

For Oracle (non-RAC)

• Use List_all_of_the_Oracle_PI_Debug_Statistics_settings.groovy to check current status.

• Use Update_all_Oracle_PI_Statistics_debug_to_off.groovy to disable statistics.

For Oracle RAC

• Use List_all_of_the_Oracle_RAC_PI_Debug_Statistics_settings.groovy to check current status.

• Use Update_all_Oracle_RAC_PI_Statistics_debug_to_off.groovy to disable statistics.

For SQL Server

• Use List_all_of_the_SQL_PI_Debug_Statistics_settings.groovy to check current status.

• Use Update_all_SQL_PI_Statistics_debug_to_off.groovy to disable statistics.

Step 2

Complete these steps to change the default settings for future SQL Server and Oracle agents.

1. Navigate to Administration | Agents | Agent Properties
2. Select the DB_SQL_Server Namespace and DB_SQL_Server Type
3. Change the Enable SQL PI Statistics debug messages radio button to FALSE
4. Click the Save button
5. Select the DB_Oracle Namespace and DB_Oracle Type
6. Change the Enable SQL PI Statistics debug messages radio button to FALSE
7. Click the Save button

Step 3

1. Stop the Foglight Agent Manager (FglAM) service (or the Foglight Management Server (FMS) on an embedded FglAM)
2. Go to:
   {FglAM}\state\default\agents\{agent-ID}\DB_SQL_Server\ or DB_Oracle\
3. Delete folders for old cartridge versions (e.g., 6.1.x if current is 7.3.0.10).
4. In the current version folder, delete all .gz and of the numbered log files that include this string "sql_pi_statistics"
5. Restart the FglAM (or FMS) service
