How to Setup Foglight Email Mail Server Settings. A required configuration to allow sending alarm email notifications.

How to configure email server settings?

1. Login to the Foglight console with your Foglight admin user to configure the settings.  Defining the global mail server connection details used for sending email notification should take place in Foglight Administration | Setup | Email configuration

   

2. Edit the required field Mail server and enter your company’s email server name or IP and click save.  
3. Access the other required field, Email Sender Address and key in an email address.  The address isn’t required to be resolvable; it’s needed as a sender’s field when receiving alarm email notifications.  Not uncommon for identification purposes to set the sending address to something in recognition to Foglight.

4. Other fields are optional considering your company’s requirements or if the Mail server port has changed from the default settings.  

5. After the two mandatory fields are completed, click test the configurations and enter a valid email address to validate the settings and receive the test message, then click send test email.  With valid configurations an email sent successful dialog box should display requesting to check your inbox validating the setup.  Once the test message is received successfully the setup is complete.    

The Foglight system is now staged to send alarm email notifications if the alarms email notifications settings are configured for your Foglight monitoring agents which is a separate task.
