The SQL Server Usability OS processor code tests the connection availability in the DBSS_Usability collection to query the status of the SQL Server service.
If this status of the service cannot be queried, then no further OS collections are run against the host.
Prior to the 6.3 release of the SQL Server cartridge, the SQL Server agents require local admin privileges to the Windows hosts to successfully collect data. If these privileges are revoked the agents would break and hence not collect OS data.
Beginning in the 6.3 and higher SQL Server cartridges, limited OS metrics that do not include Windows Services can be collected without Admin permissions.
