Updating Firmware of a DL Appliance using the Lifecycle Controller. (4036320)

The following KB outlines how to upgrade the firmware of a DL Appliance using the Lifecycle Controller with the FTP Server selection. 

NOTE: These steps can be carried out to upgrade the appliance firmware if there is a warning in the Appliance tab and Open Manage Server Administrator (OMSA) that there is firmware out of date.

NOTE: To update the firmware via Lifecycle Controller will require a reboot.

1. Start Lifecycle Controller by pressing F10 at system start.
2. In the left pane, click Firmware Update.
3. In the right pane, click Launch Firmware Update.
4. Select the FTP Server repository

5. The FTP details should be entered by default (ftp.dell.com).  Verify the connection by clicking Test Network Connection and Click Next

6. The Select Updates page is displayed with the catalog file, catalog version, and component names for which the updates are available.  Select the components that require an update, and then click Apply.

7. The update process is initiated and the firmware update is completed. After restart, the system is ready to use.

NOTE: When applying more than one update, the system may restart between updates. In this case, Lifecycle Controller restarts the server and automatically continues the update process.
