How do you log the various Domino statistics to a file for later analysis.
There is no easy way to do this but here is a workaround that can be used. The method relies on switching the console log off and on and writing statistics to the console log when it is active. The console log will be renamed automatically every time Domino is restarted to ensure a historic copy is kept and not overwritten. This way the statistics will be available to manually extract via a program such as MS Excel
Enter the statistics you require. Below is as an example. Make sure that start consolelog is the first entry and stop consolelog is the last entry in the text file.
Start consolelog
Show Stat
Show Stat Mail
Show Stat Mail.dead
Show Stat Mail.hold
Show Stat Mail.Queue.Mailbox.Waiting
Show Stat Mail.Waiting
Show Stat Mail.TotalPending
Show database names.nsf
Show Server
Stop consolelog
Now save the text file onto the Domino Server local disk.
2. Create a Notes / Domino Program Document.
Domino servers can run scheduled tasks using the Programs Configuration that can be found in the Domino Directory (names.nsf).
For example:
The program doc below is an example of how to log statistics every half an hour. This can be adjusted to suit your environmental requirements for statistics.
For example:
Program name: SERVER
Command line: -c "
Repeat interval of: 30 minutes
Days of week: Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Sat
Set the repeat interval to 1 minute to test and confirm as below:
This should appear on the Domino Console.
[1770:003E-1774] 03/05/2019 04:53:35 AM Running Program document for 'SERVER -c "
[1770:0006-0714] 03/05/2019 04:53:35 AM Console Logging is ENABLED
Show Stat Mail
[1770:0006-0714] Mail.CurrentByteDeliveryRate = 0
[1770:0006-0714] Mail.CurrentByteTransferRate = 0
[1770:0006-0714] Mail.CurrentMessageDeliveryRate = 0
This should be in the console.log
[1514:0006-0F54]
[1514:0006-0F54] 03/05/2019 04:57:41 AM Running Program document for 'SERVER -c "
[1514:0006-0F54] start consolelog
[1514:0006-0F54] Show Stat
[0C24:0002-0FE0] 03/05/2019 04:57:41 AM 1,BTFreeBusy client: notes param DominoDataDir = C:\w12dom9coex
[1514:0006-0F54] Calendar.RnR.Scan.2AM.Databases = 0
[1514:0006-0F54] Calendar.RnR.Scan.2AM.Databases.Invalid = 0
[1514:0006-0F54] Calendar.RnR.Scan.2AM.Databases.Invalid.WasInvalid = 0
[1514:0006-0F54] Calendar.RnR.Scan.2AM.Databases.Invalid.WasValid = 0
Now set the Repeat Interval in the program directory to 30 minutes or whatever is appropriate.
The output will be available in console.log in the IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT directory. Every time the Domino server is restarted the console.log file will be renamed to console_servername_2019_02_21@07_26_55. This file can be further manipulated using an external program.
