Where is it best to keep a trace file for replay? On a network Disk or Local drive where Benchmark Factory is installed.
The answer is Network drive and it is for the following reason:
Assuming that you have ten 60GB trace files to replay. If you place them on a network drive, then database only has to write files to the network drive – so there is only one “network” cost to write these files. If on the other hand you instead decide to place them on a local drive for each database server, then you will have to FTP them to the BMF machine. It doesn't end there. If you then need to run multiple BMF agents on different machines, then you will need to ftp all those trace files to each and every
BMF agent machine. Whereas with a network drive, all machines (BMF console and agent) simply need to map or have access to the network drive.
