How to process thousands of packages within the Received Packages_old folder? -
Description
When there is huge amount of accumulated packages within the Received Packages folder then one of the side effects could be lost connection between ApexSQL Audit GUI and its central instance.
Most often a fresh install needs to take place, and one of the actions that needs to be performed is renaming the 'Received Packages' folder, to 'Received Packages_old'.
A fresh install will create a new Received Packages folder and from now on all new packages will be stored within it.
The question that emerges is what should be done with the thousands of packages that are left within the Received Packages_old folder and is that data lost forever?
The simple answer here is no, those packages aren't lost. -
Resolution
The above mentioned packages should be moved to the newly created Received Packages folder manually, in the times when SQL Server has low traffic.
Simply select up to 500 packages from it and move it to the new folder, thus emptying the "old" folder for that amount of packages.
If there are packages within the Quarantine folder as well, than the same process should be repeated when SQL traffic is low, select up to 500 packages from it and move it to the Received packages folder
