ApexSQL Audit intermittently loses connection to a remote audited instance and showing "unresponsive" status for this instance in the Home tab of the ApexSQL Audit GUI
Additionally, the described behavior is causing the following error to emerge within the ApexSQL Audit log files:
“[CENTRAL]: Instance : Preparing for upgrade
If you’ve stopped using the instance for auditing or you have connection issues to it also then you could eliminate issue/error in logs by upgrading server-side components on that machine”
Connection issue to a remote SQL Server instance
On the remote machine, that is running the remote SQL Server instance run the latest ApexSQLSetup installer and in the installation step select the “Install server-side components” radio button under the ApexSQL Audit category
If latest ApexSQL Audit version is already installed on this remote machine, to upgrade the server-side components go to the following location: “C:\Program Files\ApexSQL\ApexSQL Audit” find and run the ApexSQLServerSideComponents.exe, then finish the installation.
