Few of the common questions that are asked when installing ApexSQL Audit in the failover cluster environment are:
If there are logs with the client host showing the specific SQL Server instance, should a “Traces” folder be created on that server?
If any actions are performed on the specific SQL Server instance directly, could those actions be seen in ApexSQL Audit GUI as coming from that server?
Resolution
Answers:
On passive node flat-session folders are created only when failover occurs.
ApexSQL Audit won’t catch events on passive node if the SQL Server is traced as a cluster. However, if its traced as a standalone then the tool will catch its events
