The following errors may occur when trying to start the Active Administrator console on a workstation:
"Critical Error: Unable to establish a connection with the server. No such host is known"
OR
Turning off the firewall did not resolve the issue. Verified that the correct ports are open and can actually see a connection is being made between the desktop and the server on port 15600.
WORKAROUND 1
Add the DNS Pointer (PTR) record for the remote machine where the Active Administrator (AA) console is installed.
On the remote AA console machine, open a Command Prompt window and run the following command:
ipconfig /flushdns
WORKAROUND 2
Follow the steps below to enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP:
WORKAROUND 3
Browse to C:\Users\YourLoggedOnUserAccount\AppData\Roaming\Quest\Active Administrator and rename the AASettings.xml to AASettings.Old
Launch the Active Administrator console.
If the console will still not connect, try adding the FQDN, shortname and IP address of the AA server to the hosts file of the remote machine where the console is installed and add the FQDN, shortname and IP address of the remote machine where the console is installed to the hosts file of the AA server.
