When upgrading Active Administrator, there is no upgrade path from versions of the product previous to 7.0
In addition, there are upgrade instances where the existing database may not upgrade gracefully or encounters errors during the upgrade
When upgrading from Active Administrator 6.5 or any previous version, the upgrade scripts cannot perform the correct schema change for the 8.0 database.
In some cases, the existing database may suffer from mild corruption or index fragmentation which causes an otherwise valid database to fail the upgrade
Install Active Administrator 8 as a new instance, not an upgrade.
Manually upgrade the 'old' database to the correct 8.0 schema and connect the database as an 'extra' archive database, or 'Reporting Archive'. (SQL scripts to manually upgrade older versions of the database are available from Quest Technical Support)
CREATE NEW DATABASES FOR ACTIVE ADMINISTRATOR 8:
* Select the option to create a new database and step thru the rest of the AA Configuration Wizard
* Once the Wizard finishes successfully, open the Active Administrator Console > Agents
The agents must be re-installed to recognize the new database.
