Ensure that the account you are logged in with when running the AA Console has Domain Admin rights. Also ensure that the DC that you are restoring to is using an OS that is supported in the version of AA you are using.
If you are attempting to restore a deleted user ensure the user was not deleted longer than the tombstone lifetime of the domain (default is 180 days).
If the issue persists, enable diagnostic logging, reproduce the issue, collect the logs and contact Support:
Please enabled debug logging and reproduce the issue:
- Open the AA Server Manager
- Click Enable AFS Logging
- Open the AA Console
- Press F9
- At the bottom of the page, click the up arrow to show the list of events (if they are not already shown)
- Click Clear All Events
- Check AD Recovery
- Click Enable Verbose Logging
- Click Close
- Try to restore an object that fails to restore
- Press F9 again
- Copy the log information from General to a file and save it
- Click System Log | Save
- Click System Errors | Save
- Disable Verbose logging
- Click Select All Events
- Disable AFS Logging from the Server Manager
- Collect the log files from steps 12-14 as well as the AFS.log file from <installDirectory>\Program Files\QuestActive Administrator\Server\LOGGING
