- Pause all scheduled tests via Edit - Analysis Tests
- Close the Spotlight Topology Viewer
- Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Common Files\Diagnostic Test Server
- Right-click on DiagnosticTestEngine.ini file and select Properties
- Make sure the Read-only attributes check box is not selected
- Click ok and open the DiagnosticTestEngine.ini file and change all False entries to True.
- Repeat the above steps for the following files:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Spotlight on Active Directory\SLADTV.ini
C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Common Files\Data Collection Server\DataManager.ini
C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Common Files\Distributed Collector\DistributedCollector.ini - Restart the three services: DataManagerSLAD, DiagnosticTestEngineSLAD and Distributed Collector
- Reproduce the issue and collect the following files:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Common Files\Diagnostic Test Server\DiagnosticTestEngine.log
C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Common Files\Diagnostic Test Server\DiagnosticTestEngine.Managed.log
C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Common Files\Distributed Collector\DistributedCollector.log
C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\Common Files\Data Collection Server\Datamanager.log - Un-pause the tests that were paused in step 1
The above logs are needed when there is an issue with a particular analysis test. If you are receiving an error like a dialog error within the console (Topology Viewer or Diagnostic Console), please also proivdethe following logs:
Program Files\Quest Software\Spotlight\Console\Spotlight.log
Program Files\Quest Software\Spotlight on Active Directory\SLADTV.log
Program Files\Quest Software\Spotlight on Active Directory\SLADTV~1.OCX_TV.log
It is also possible to increase the log file size and then number of logs created (before they roll over). Edit the ini files and add the below to the bottom:
Max backups=7
Log file size=5
In this example, it would change the number of log files to 7 rather than 5 and the size from the default 2mb to 5mb
