Given example provide steps to upgrade to the 8.6.x environment, but can be used for the almost any vWorkspace version.
1. First, backup your vWorkspace Database, and if possible take a snapshot of your vWorkspace servers.
2. Download vWorkspace 8.6.x (There will be a x64 upgrade installer inside the .zip file)
3. Install the upgrade on your Connection Broker first, once installed restart the connection broker server.
4. Once the Connection Broker is restarted and online, please launch the vWorkspace Management Console.
5. Once upgraded, run the same upgrade on your other Connection Brokers (if more than one), Terminal Servers and Web-IT and Secure-IT Servers.
6. Upgrade the rest of vWorkspace servers if they're used (Print Servers, Metaprofiles storage server)
7. The vWorkspace 8.0 also comes with an upgraded AppPortal Client that does not have to be installed on the client workstation right away, however you can upgrade your clients if necessary once your backend servers have been completed.
If vWorkspace Farm is using VDI machines, please upgrade PNTools and Instant provisioning Tools (where applicable) on the master image(s) and on the all VDI machines (if traditional desktop group is used).
If SCVMM is used, please upgrade the Broker Helper Service component from the installation media onto SCVMM machine.
Hyper-V servers should be re-initialized from the upgraded Connection Broker machines in order to push-install the newer Hyper-V Catalyst service.
More detailed instructions can be found in the Upgrading vWorkspace section of the Administration Guide.
Please note, that upgrade is only tested for 2 versions back and we cannot guarantee functionality if the upgrade is done from the earlier versions.
For example: vWorkspace versions were: 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.5, 7.6, 8.0, 8.5, 8.6. Upgrade from 7.5 to 8.5 is not supported.
Important: Please review the System Requirements document before the upgrade. Newer vWorkspace versions may no longer support older OSes and platforms.
